On my recent vacation, we were driving up Highway 101 through Oregon. As we drove through Tillamook we saw a lot of barn quilts! My family got 'almost' as excited as I did and it turned into a scavenger hunt.
I tried taking pictures as we saw them, but if was kind of hard in a moving car.
Afterwards, I did a bit of research (i.e. quick internet search) and found the Tillamook County Quilt Trail.
"Located on the beautiful and scenic North Oregon Coast, the Tillamook County Quilt Trail showcases the great heritage of historic barns and buildings in Tillamook County. This self-guided tour showcases each structure with a large painted wooden quilt block. We strive to share the history of dairy farms and quilts for visitors to celebrate the unique rural heritage that is Tillamook County."
If we had more time, I would have spent all day following this self guided tour. If you find yourself in the area, check it out!
Have fun quilting!
